His swims are typically infused with art and are the subjects of documentary films, with the goal of benefiting conservation and restoration efforts of the waters he swims in. Dylan Taylor of ColoradoWeekendAthlete.com speaks with Dr. Scott Parazynski, a highly decorated physician, astronaut, and tech CEO, recently inducted into the US Astronaut Hall of Fame. Scott joined NASA’s Astronaut Corps in 1992, flying on 5 Space Shuttle missions and conducting 7 spacewalks. His mission highlights include a global ozone mapping flight; leading the first joint US-Russian spacewalk while docked to the Russian space station Mir; serving as Senator John Glenn’s crewmate and personal physician; and assembly of the Canadian-built space station robotic arm. Scott is also a prolific mountaineer, and is the first person to have both flown in space and summited Mount Everest. Scott is a legend in every sense of the word, with additional experience as a diver, pilot, and explorer, while continuing to improve our possibilities on Earth as an inventor, product developer, speaker, author, and entrepreneur.

Dylan Taylor of ColoradoWeekendAthlete.com speaks with Junko Kazukawa, a Japanese-born ultrarunner who currently lives in Denver, Colorado. Junko competes in marathon, ultramarathon and cycling events around the world, and was the first person to complete the Leadville series and the Ultrarunning Grand Slam in a single year. Junko is also a two-time breast cancer survivor, and after undergoing a double mastectomy, she competed in the 2009 New York City Marathon only five weeks after her chemo therapy. On numerous occasions Junko has competed in support of fellow athletes suffering with cancer, and raised money for the cause in doing so. She is a profoundly positive individual, and supports her community in Colorado as a trainer of all levels, and a run club leader.

She is a five-time Ironman distance champion. In 2017 Sarah won the Australian and World Long Course Championship and both the Asia Pacific Ironman Championships in Cairns, Australia and the European Ironman Championships in Frankfurt, Germany. Sarah finished third place at the 2017 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, cementing her place as a world level athlete. She is also the fastest Australian female in Kona history. Sarah was also an accountant and the Director in Corporate Finance at Deloitte until 2016, and won the Deloitte Business Woman of the Year Award. Excelling at everything she touches, Sarah Crowley is a “pro’s pro,” and about as legendary as they come.

Forrest has been pushing the limits of the sport since he was young, at one point kayaking the Potomac outside of Washington DC at age 16 during a legendary flood, which he barely survived. Forrest has stayed out of the limelight for most of his life, but is considered one of the world's best kayakers. Forrest made headlines when he assisted several kayakers attempt a never before kayaked run at marble Fork Gorge in the Sierra Nevadas. It was a feat of bravery and skill, and was a success. Forrest has a legendary commitment to the sport and respect for adventure and responsibilities as a fellow kayaker that permeates his community, family, and the entire sport. He is also an accomplished climber, which he frequently uses to increase his opportunities for kayaking locations.
